Hi, I'm so glad you're here! I'm Barb Hauser, an internationally award winning portrait photographer based in Pasadena, California. I specialize in creating meaningful, luxurious photo experiences, both on location and in my beautiful Old Pasadena studio, surrounded by century old brick and natural light. I’ve received numerous awards for my work, but what matters most to me is helping people feel seen, confident, and radiant in their portraits. I really enjoy that process from first meeting to final delivery!
My journey back to Photography
My creative path began in college in Seattle, where I shifted from studying music to exploring art and photography. Early in my career, I led an art department for a commercial printer, then spent 15 years building a successful business teaching cooking, developing products, and mentoring others.
After remarrying and moving to California, I spent several joyful years with my husband as he toured with the iconic vocal group The Manhattan Transfer. When Tim passed after a quiet battle with cancer, I turned to my camera for healing, photographing jazz musicians, supporting music students through scholarships, and finding a renewed sense of purpose through creativity. That path led me to portrait photography, where I discovered just how powerful it can be to help people see their best selves reflected in an image.
When I'm not behind the camera, I enjoy time spent cooking, and hanging out with family and friends *especially my grandson and my border collie, Lucy. I travel a lot too and do location photography work. Always, camera in hand!

​Why I love what I do
I believe everyone deserves to be celebrated and photographed beautifully. My sessions are designed to be empowering, relaxed, and fully customized. With the help of my talented hair and makeup team, we create an experience that feels elevated but completely comfortable. I often collaborate with other photographers and I invest in professional education regularly! The best part? That moment when you look at the back of the camera and say,“Wow… is that really me?” Yes, it absolutely is.
My Pasadena Studio and On-Location Offerings
After starting my business at a studio near Burbank airport, I expanded into a larger, light filled studio in the heart of Old Pasadena in 2023 and enjoy being involved in the community! It’s the perfect setting for a day of pampering and creativity. I have several locations in town and around Southern California where I shoot regularly and travel internationally. I have a satellite studio in Washington state as well, so reach out if you'd like to discuss work out of California.
